I never heard of a black squirrel. Never saw one in person or in a picture. While walking with Steve to view some of the apartment/condo buildings on the Gold Coast near where we live, we happened upon a bunch of black squirrels in a small region of a small neighborhood, running from yard to yard, tree to tree. It was like they were showing off for us. So of course I had to oblige and take their picture, so they could be posted on Birth Of A Seed!
Years ago, in our front yard on Arthur Street in Springfield Massachusetts grew a catalpa tree. Large leaves with long bean-like pods and white pungent flowers that stuck to the sidewalk where they fell. That was a long time ago and the tree has since been taken down. In all the places I lived since childhood, I never did see another. Till now. I’ve been in this part of Cleveland for ten years and walked by it many times, yet never did see it, standing right in front of me. A joyful discovery.

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
It’s time for the beginning and the ending to merge. No atom is any more important than any other atom. They’re all the same. They’re all leaders, which makes all life and non-life leaders. Nobody is only a follower. You lead your own life and follow your own rules by leading. So lead. Live. Everybody lead.
You lead and follow simultaneously. As you lead, you become life. Simultaneous is what we want–all joined together at infinite numbers of junctures–with no stragglers, no losers–we move like waves in the ocean, like leaves on a tree–separate, but as one. All atoms, all Gods of all natures on deck. Now.
